Passion Pit Covers Smashing Pumpkins

I recently had a conversation with a friend about how much we don’t like covers. She said it’s like watching a movie that was based on a book, never as good. Which I find to be true most of the time. And I feel like the originality, which makes a song great, is gone. But to be honest, if I was in a band, I’d definitely cover some of my favorite songs. And so I just came across Passion Pit’s cover of the Smashing Pumpkins classic ‘Tonight Tonight’.
Now I won’t even bother comparing it to the original, because for a track like that, it’s impossible. But the cover is a good one on its own, significantly stripped down, but maintains the dreamy, starry quality of the original, which Passion Pit is so good at doing anyway. Though the vocals are a little too high for the music I feel. But, a good listen nonetheless.
