One of the best songs ever created (or so at least in my opinion) was Spoon’s 2005 track, ‘I Turn My Camera On’. Always resonated with me since I do photography as well. It’s a mix of Prince and The Stones, the stop start of the bass, Britt Daniels’ duel falsettos, the soul tinge, the call and response, the slash strum on the guitar, all make it a wonder of a tune. Rock Kills Kid did a cover of it a long time ago though their version is in the complete opposite direction of Spoon’s, yet still quite amazing. The cover follows the same pattern, but instead of being a quick, funk produced tune, it’s a soft, introspective ballad, tinged with a little bit of sadness. You can pick either version for the polar opposite of moods you happen to be in.
