From Your Lips To Mine

Friendly Fire’s debut album is really one of the best releases of this year. I’ve posted a couple of tracks of theirs on this blog and here’s a new one called ‘Kiss of Life’. It’s a single off of the re-issue of their debut album and it’s my current favorite song. On repeat more than is probably healthy. ‘Kiss of Life’ is a little different than their other material, consisting of samba loops and samba drums. It’s a carnivalesque affair soaked in sun, with Ed McFarlane’s utterances of ‘Kiss of Life’ piercing the chorus like sharp rays of sunlight. I think this whole analogy makes sense once you watch the video, which I’m kind of obsessed with. It was shot in Ibiza, is immensely colorful and fimed in the most vivid quality. Ed McFarlane demonstrates his impressive dance moves, which look pretty damn cool, though only he could probably pull them off. Except for maybe my creatively bad dancing friend, Ketan. I’ll give the moves a shot on an inebriated night out and let you know how it goes. I’ve thrown in their track ‘Lovesick’ too for good measure.
