My Name Is Geraldine, I’m You’re Social Worker

This is an old one but I’ve been wanting to post about Glasvegas for over a year. Thought I’d still do it for those of you who might have not had a chance to check them out. These boys are pretty brilliant. Glasvegas is a Scottish band from Glasgow, taking the ironic nick name of the city as their moniker. Their self titled debut from last year perfectly showcases well crafted noise pop built around Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound, with touches of shoe gaze and dream pop. The melodies are beautiful, built around realistic lyrics sung by James Allan in his thick Scottish brogue, which adds the utmost character to this band. I saw them live last year with a bunch of my Scottish friends and it was a fantastic time.
