Make You Mine
This is my song of the moment. For the last 365 or so, Miami Horror (actually from Melbourne, not Miami) has been known for his pretty kick ass reworking of other people’s music. His mixes are far and wide; always original, always good. And he’s garnered a strong following on the wide world of the internet. But of recent, Miami Horror, a.k.a. Benjamin Vanguard, has decided to take it upon himself to flesh out some of his own tunes. Pause. Now I will talk about another group and tie the two in.
In early ‘08, a band from Austin, Texas came out that dubbed themselves Ghosthustler. Such a stylish name, or it just looks stylish written out. Either way, they were pretty awesome. Though besides myself, one of my friends was the only other person I knew that had heard of Ghosthustler. Safe to say it made it on her and my playlists, but otherwise Ghosthustler was pretty silent and I often wondered what happened to them, that was until now. They broke up, lead singer Alan Palomo, who now goes by VEGA, started putting out solo work (and now the tie in) features his amazing vocals on Miami Horror’s track ‘Make You Mine’. I’m pretty excited about this because I think Palomo has one of the better male vocals around in this day and age, as well as being extremely unique and identifiable. It’s youthful and fresh, ever so slightly scratched, and always yearning with a quick passion.
‘Make You Mine’ actually runs over like a Ghosthustler track, particularly so since Palomo also penned the lyrics, which are always about unabashed romance. The track is fun, fresh and fast, evoking spacey synths, congo drums, wood winds and flutes, shimmering 80s italo house beats for a truly amazing dance floor track.
