Warm Heart of Africa
Posted by BrokenSilence | Filed under The Very Best
Some sunshine, tropical pop mixing with lo fi buzzzzz. The Very Best is a collaborative effort of Malwai native, Esau Mwamwaya (vocals) with DJ/production duo Radioclit. The sound dispersed is an Afro-Western mix of dance, pop, hip hop, and traditional music of Malawi. ‘Warm Heart of Africa’ (the tourist slogan of the country) features vocals by Vampire Weekend’s lead singer, Ezra Koenig. The song is upbeat and lifting and Koenig croons out some smooth sounds. Violens do a remix of the track. It sounds like what I imagine New Wave/80s would’ve sounded like had it been birthed in Africa.
