Fantastic Mr. Fox

Last week I saw ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ and loved it. I’d say it’s probably my second favorite Wes Anderson movie (after ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’ and not including ‘Hotel Chevalier’). It was creative, witty, clever; a fun family caper tale with great style. Despite it being a stop motion/animated film, Wes still managed to make it with his signature aesthetic. And like all Wes movies it had an incredible soundtrack. It features songs from The Stones, The Beach Boys, Burl Ives, Jarvis Cocker and The Bobby Fuller Four. All original music is composed by Alexandre Desplat. It’s always amazing how Wes Anderson manages to use some of your favorite obscure songs that you haven’t heard in years. My favorite track off of the soundtrack is Bobby Fuller Four’s ‘Let Her Dance’, it’s such a catchy, old time song that makes you dance around. It has that 1950s nostalgic innocence to it as well.
The Bobby Fuller Four - Let Her Dance
The Rolling Stones - Street Fighting Man
The Beach Boys - Heroes And Villains
I wanted to include some of the Burl Ives tracks and Jarvis Cockers’ but can’t find them for download. But you can listen to the entire soundtrack here.
