Teddybears is an electro rock band from Stockholm, originally a grindcore band in the metal scene, they decided to call themselves Teddybears, as a slight rebellion against every metal band with some crazy name like ‘Corpse Grinder From Hell’. The band mixes pop, rock, hip-hop, electronica, reggae, punk and a whole lot of other genres for their sound. They’ve put out a lot of solid tracks, like ‘Punkrocker’ featuring Iggy Pop, but my favorite is ‘Yours To Keep’. The song appeared on their third album, ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Highschool’, featuring Paola. Her vocals on the punk/rocky/distorted synthy track are innocent, youthful and almost childish, which mixes well yet slightly opposes the melody. It’s fast, fun and endearing. Teddybears re-released the song on their 2006 album, ‘Soft Machine’, this time with the famous Neneh Cherry on vocals, and that version is nowhere near as good as the original. I saw these guys DJ at the Annex one night and they were pretty good.
